September Favorites 2016

October 20, 2016

Hi guys! It’s about time I got my September favorites up… I’m always so late on my monthly favorites (haha) but y’all know the drill. Better late than never! September was actually pretty uneventful for me. I did a lot of Fall and Winter clothes shopping, but I don’t know why. It’s October and it’s still 90 degrees outside here in Houston. I want to bundle up in cute sweaters, boots, and chunky scarves but instead I’m over here in shorts and a tank top. We’re seriously contemplating moving somewhere up North once my husband is finished with his Doctorate. I love cold weather! Speaking of my husband and his PT program… His white coat ceremony is TOMORROW! I’m so incredibly proud of him. After December he will officially by half way done with the program. Hallelujah!

Let’s jump right in to my favorites for the month of September. They’re mainly beauty products this time around. As always, everything is linked for quick and easy shopping! If an item is sold out or no longer available, I’ll link something else that is similar.

Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation x L’Oreal

Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation x Maybelline

Y’all know me and my foundations… I’m super picky! I have oily sensitive skin, so it’s really hard to find foundations that work for me. Not to mention, I typically wear my makeup for 12+ hours on a work day, so I need something that’s going to stay put and look flawless all day long. I absolutely love the Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation x L’Oreal, so when I saw the Pro-Glow version, I was a bit skeptical. Anytime I see the word “glow” on a foundation bottle, my pores cringe a little. I automatically think I’ll end up looking like a grease pit after a few hours of wear, and this is the case when I wear this foundation by itself. BUT… when I mix it with my Fit Me Matte + Poreless x Maybelline (which is too matte for me to wear on its own), the combination of the two looks FLAWLESS and lasts me all day. This is my new holy grail foundation mixture! I have always been a fan of mixing foundations. Not only do you get to mix and match certain formulas, but you can customize the shades to match your skin tone perfectly. These can both be found at your local drugstore and are very affordable!

No Color Powder x RCMA

If you’re looking for a dupe for the Translucent Setting Powder x Laura Mercier, here’s your best bet. I swear by my Laura Mercier powder, but this RCMA no color powder is very comparable and costs a lot less. I like to bake with the RCMA powder and then set the rest of my face with the Laura Mercier powder. My only dislike about the RCMA is the container it comes it… It’s horrible. It has a flip top lid with little holes, like a cooking seasoning shaker bottle (haha that’s a bad description but y’all know what I mean). It’s super messy and not user friendly at all. I would typically dump some out onto my glass candle holder (this is what I pour my foundation on), but then I had the bright idea to use an empty powder container. So I dug around in my drawers and found an old Cover FX powder that I don’t use anymore, cleaned the old powder out, and then dumped in the RCMA powder and voila! No more mess!

Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder in shade ‘Milk Chocolate’ x Too Faced

This bronzer… YUM. It literally smells like chocolate, which is so crazy. I have a pretty fair skin tone, so I have to be super careful when it comes to bronzer. One shade too dark/warm and I’ll turn into an oompa-loompa real quick. The shade ‘Milk Chocolate’ is a perfect cool tone bronzer that looks so natural on me. It doesn’t apply patchy at all and it’s so easy to work with. I like to dunk my brush into the compact a few times, tap off the excess product, and then use quick swiping motions where ever the sun would naturally hit my face. It has such a stunning finish and makes a huge difference in warming up the face. I honestly just can’t get over the chocolate smell haha I mean seriously, how do they do that?!

Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick x Too Faced

Matte liquid lipsticks forever changed the makeup game, and I’m not complaining. If you can find good pigmentation and a stellar formula, they’re hands down the best lip product on the market. I’m always on the hunt for a new liquid lipstick and when I tried this formula out a few months ago, I was ecstatic with the results! It glides on super creamy (not patchy or streaky) and the pigmentation is definitely there. I typically only need one or two dips into the tube to cover my whole lip area. It lasts all day and doesn’t separate or dry out your lips. I will typically do a light touch up after I eat any type of meal, but that’s it! I’ve been wearing all three of these shades a ton here lately. ‘Queen B’ is such a pretty every day color that is super versatile and will compliment practically any skin tone. ‘Lady Balls’ is a bright red that I die for and is perfect for a night out. ‘Drop Dead Red’ is the most recent shade added to my collection and I’ve been loving it. My favorite lipstick shade to wear is dark vampy colors, and this one definitely fits the bill.

‘Breathless’ Perfume x Victoria’s Secret

I found two bottles of this perfume tucked away in the back of my linen closet and I don’t believe you can purchase it at VS anymore. I’m pretty sure I bought mine on sale at least 2 years ago but just now got around to using them (so embarrassing). At first I was afraid that they would have gone bad, but much to my surprise, they are perfectly fine! I have been wearing this scent every single day for the past few months and have gotten so many compliments on it. It’s a light clean smell that has a tiny bit of sweetness to it. I’m not a fan of super sweet perfumes so this one is definitely on the lighter side. I use one pump on my neck and one on my wrists and it lasts me all day long! I’ve linked another VS perfume in scent ‘Heavenly’ that I’ve used before that I think is very similar.

rebecca-minkoff-love-crossbody-bag

‘Love’ Crossbody Bag x Rebecca Minkoff

Last but not least… THIS BAG YOU GUYS, I DIE. Rebecca Minkoff is one of my favorite handbag designers. She always has classic shapes with a unique modern twist in the hardware and small details. This bag is a black quilted leather with all black metal hardware (seriously, I die). I am OBSESSED. I picked this bag up at Nordstrom and literally checked my tracking info every single day until it arrived… Don’t act like you’ve never done that! It’s the perfect size to take out to dinner or to an event, but definitely not an everyday bag for me. I have way too much crap in my day purse to fit into this little thing haha. It will comfortably hold your cell phone, small wallet, keys, hand sanitizer, and a portable charger. It’s so beautiful and super chic!

Alright guys, that’s it for this month’s favorites! I hope you enjoyed all of my picks. I promise to try harder next month to get my favorites up before the end of the month haha! I hope y’all have a beautiful Friday tomorrow and a great weekend. See ya next time!

XX,

Andi
