I make purchases at Sephora at least once a month. Whether it’s restocking my favorites or purchasing new products to try, I can always find something to buy. I was browsing through the Sephora app last month and realized I had a birthday gift to redeem, so I thought heck, why not purchase some stuff and redeem some points?! If you shop at Sephora, or any beauty supply store for that matter, you need to make sure and sign up for a rewards account so you can start racking up points every time you shop. Most stores have some type of system in place where you can redeem your points for deluxe samples. It’s a great way to try out new products without having to buy a full size. This haul has some oldies but goodies, as well as new products I was itching to try! As always, everything is linked (even the samples) for quick and easy shopping.
These are my holy grail face products that I think everyone should have in their collection. When it comes to primers, I am really picky. I don’t want something that has too much silicon because I have oily skin. This primer by Benefit Cosmetics is SO GOOD, y’all. It literally fills in every tiny (or should I say large) pore for a flawless matte finish. It helps hold my makeup in place all day long, which is crucial since I sometimes put in 10+ hour work days at the office. I use every single day, no matter where I’m going or what I’m doing. I always buy the JUMBO SIZE, which is nuts, but that’s how much I use it! The Tarte Cosmetics BB tinted treatment is a good all-in-one product that I have been using for several years now. It acts as a primer but it also gives you a very light coverage since it’s a BB cream. I wear it underneath my liquid foundation if I want a little extra coverage, or by itself on quick days when I’m just running errands. It’s also great to wear to the pool since it has SPF 30 sunscreen protection. It isn’t sticky and leaves a light matte finish, which I love.
I had seen multiple beauty gurus raving about this Clinique moisturizer, so you know your girl had to give it a whirl. There are two different versions of this product: One is a lotion designed for dry or combination skin, and the other is a gel designed for oily skin (which is the one I use). One big concern/issue I have with any skincare product is the smell. If it smells like extreme toxic waste or bathroom cleaner chemicals, I would rather not use it. Thankfully this Clinique moisturizing gel has a very mild smell. Because it’s a gel, it goes on super smooth and takes a good 5-10 minutes to soak into the skin. This little guy has worked great with controlling my oil and helping my skin stay fresh and matte. I’ve been using it as the last step in my night time skincare routine and I’m 100% satisfied!
I’ve been obsessed with sheet masks here lately, so I decided to pick up some of my favorites. These are from the Sephora brand and I love them for two main reasons. First of all, the sheet is ultra-saturated in the active ingredient moisture. Other sheet masks that I have used in the past are barely moist and I don’t feel like they give my skin enough TLC. The second reason I love the Sephora sheet masks is simple… They’re only $6.00! The pink lotus mask is designed to refresh tired skin and reduce the appearance of fatigue. The honey mask is great for soothing dry or sensitive skin. I love using the honey mask after I’ve used a semi-harsh toner or after I’ve done some extractions. It reduces and calms my redness significantly and leaves my skin feeling baby soft. I typically use two and three sheet masks every week!
Where do I even begin with this mascara?! It’s horrible. I was so excited to try it because I had heard such great reviews about it but it was a total flop for me. It’s excessively clumpy and hard to work with. With just one swipe, it had completely coated my lashes in a heaping pile of black goop. I tried using several different techniques, including wiping off excess product from the wand before applying, and it was still a hot mess. I will say though that I was living for the packaging. The tube feels very luxurious and heavy, but that was literally the only thing I liked about it. I posted about my experience with this mascara on my Instagram and a ton of y’all said that you had the same issues but encouraged me to try the original Better Than Sex formula. I went out and purchased it that same week and I love it! I guess the waterproof formula just didn’t suit my lashes.
Quick disclaimer: This was my first time to purchase and use this mascara and by the time I got around to writing this blog post, I had already given it a try (obviously). The beautiful thing about makeup is that there are no rules. Just because something doesn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you!
I have a love/hate relationship with the Sephora reward points system. I have been a part of their top tier (VIB Rogue) for several years now, and all it does it remind me of all the money I have spent. But I love being able to try out new products without having to shell out the price for a full size item, so I do love that aspect of it along with its other perks! I redeemed 100 points for this sample of the Clinique pep-start eye cream. I haven’t used it yet, but I love Clinique and I love eye creams, so I don’t know what’s not to like about it! I will definitely update you guys on it once I’ve tried it out.
I had a ton of rewards points saved up, so I also splurged and redeemed 500 points for this 4-piece Caudalie sample set. I haven’t used any of these products except for the Micellar Cleansing Water (which I love), so I’m sure I’m going to like the other products as well. Caudalie is one of those brands that always has products that are unique and fresh to the market, so I’m excited to give these a whirl. I’m especially excited to try the complexion correcting serum since I struggle with a lot of hyperpigmentation and problem areas. If you’ve used any of these products, comment down below and let me know what your thoughts are!
My birthday was in July and to my surprise, I hadn’t claimed my birthday reward yet! I am a die-hard fresh fan so I was so excited to see these two pretties. The rose face mask has soothing rose petals that are supposed to help hydrate and tone. The soy face cleanser is rich in amino acids and is supposed to be great for all skin types. I’m a sucker for anything skincare, so I’m really excited to try these! Fresh is known for having gentle products that work for all skin types, so I’m sure I will love them. If you’ve tried either of these before, let me know! I’d love to hear what your experience was like.
So this was my first ever “haul” type post. Do you like this kind of content? Do you want to see more? Let me know! I love hearing your feedback. I want to also address the fact that I realize I have been a little M.I.A. the past month, and for that, I am sorry. Life has been throwing me plenty of curve balls here lately and it took a little longer than I had anticipated to adjust. But I’m back now and ready to put out amazing content every week! Thank you for your continuous love and support. Y’ALL ROCK!
