August Favorites 2016

September 29, 2016

Hello, FALL! Nice to see you again! I absolutely love the Fall season. The leaves change colors, the air gets crisper, and all the warm tones come out to play. I am not a fan of Summer and the hot weather (especially here in Houston), so I am so ready for cooler temps and chilly nights snuggled up by the fireplace. I figured I would share my August favorites with y’all before we get into October (HA, better late than never). They’re kind of all over the place as per usual, but y’all appreciate the randomness, right?! As always, I’ve linked everything for quick and easy shopping. LET’S GO!

I’m always looking for new skincare products, so when I was browsing through the Origins section in Sephora a few months ago, I decided to try out their GinZing™ Energy-Boosting Treatment Lotion Mist. It’s an oil-free treatment that’s loaded with coffee beans and ginseng that claims to help fight dullness, uneven texture, dryness, and loss of firmness. It smells heavenly and I love the way it applies. It truly is a very thin/light weight mist. Once I’ve spritzed it evenly all over my face, I like to let it sit for a few minutes, then gently massage the left over residue into my skin. After about 30 minutes, my skin is SO SMOOTH and looks more radiant and supple. I just noticed on the Sephora website that it says you can even apply this throughout the day over makeup, but I don’t think I would like that. I’ve been using it as the last step in my morning skincare routine on the weekends when I’m not planning on wearing any makeup. It’s the perfect little pick-me-up and pep in my step I need to get the morning started!

Warm toned browns are one of my favorite lip colors to wear, especially during the Fall months. This Ultra Satin Lip in shade ‘Mess Around’ by ColourPop pairs perfectly with my MAC Lip Pencil in shade ‘Whirl’. It’s the perfect warm neutral that can be worn with so many different eye looks. (The ColourPop website describes this shade as a mid-tone grey beige, but I find it to be more brown on my skin tone). My MAC lip liners are one of my favorites because the pencil is a good length so you get a lot of product. They’re super pigmented and glide on the lips without getting patchy. If you’ve been a subscriber for a while now, you know that I am OBSESSED with ColourPop. Their Ultra Satin Lips are my favorite! They are super creamy, pigmented, and have great staying power. They’re very similar to matte liquid lipsticks, except they tend to stay a little creamier and less matte. They do transfer, but not much. I’ve been wearing this lip combo non-stop!

Ahhhh Daniel Wellington, be still my heart! I have several Daniel Wellington watches and they are all equally gorgeous. For some reason, I haven’t been able to put this watch down here lately! The Classy 34mm St. Mawes in silver is such a classic chic design. The lighter cognac leather and medium size allows it to easily be dressed down with a casual T-shirt and denim look, while the diamond stud face gives it a dressy feel. It is so comfortable on the wrist and looks stunning whether I wear it to the office, or to the grocery store on a Saturday. Versatility is a trend I will always follow.

Last but not least, my beloved Starbucks glass cold cup. I saw this glass while I was waiting for my grande iced coffee with non-fat milk and two pumps of classic sweetener (my go-to drink that I have every single day) and knew I had to have it. I’m a sucker for tumblers like this with straws, and what caught my eye about this one in particular is that it is GLASS. Yes, people, glass! So cool and unexpected. Instead of having a screw on lid, it has a rubber seal that holds the lid in place. I keep it at the office and use it every single day. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it! Might seem silly to include a cup in my favorites this month, but it’s just so dang cool!

That’s it for this month’s favorites! Like I said earlier, I know they are random and kind of all over the place, but that’s just how I roll. September has already come and (almost) gone, and I can’t believe we are heading into October already. By the way, I promise to have my September favorites up within the next week or so. Sometimes I’m so busy, I just lose track of time. One minute it’s the 1st of the month and the next thing I know; the month is half over! Am I the only one that feels like time flies by faster the older you get? But I’m not complaining. This year has been a whirlwind of change, laughter, and lots of love. HAPPY FALL, EVERYONE! I hope you wear tons of flannel and consume pumpkin spice everything!
